Embrace Authenticity in 2025

Hey Reader,

I hope you’re all doing well as we step into a new year!

During my holiday break, I came across some powerful insights from Dr. Krista Scott-Dixon that really hit home for me, especially for those of us navigating the tricky waters of anxiety. Her thoughts on niceness and anxiety are a game-changer, and I think they’ll resonate with many of you.

Who is Krista Scott-Dixon?

Dr. Krista Scott-Dixon is a former university professor and the Director of Curriculum at Precision Nutrition. With a PhD in Women’s Studies, she focuses on helping people make meaningful changes in their lives through nutrition and coaching. Krista's work emphasizes the importance of understanding our personal stories and how they shape our behaviours.

The Niceness-Anxiety Connection

Dr. Scott-Dixon points out something we might not always think about: niceness and anxiety often go hand in hand. Here’s the scoop:

  • Nice people care about others, their work, and how they’re perceived. This is a great trait! But, when niceness is not paired with healthy boundaries, this caring can lead to a lot of pressure and anxiety.
  • The difference between kindness and being nice: Kindness is a choice while being nice can feel like an obligation. It’s about wanting to support others versus feeling like you have to please everyone.
  • Sometimes, niceness hides deeper feelings like frustration or dissatisfaction. It’s like putting on a smile while gritting your teeth inside.

Why This Matters for Us

As we step into 2025, it’s an excellent opportunity to reflect on our traits and ensure that our natural inclination toward niceness is supported by healthy boundaries.

With compassion and curiosity, I encourage you to notice if you’re giving more of yourself than feels empowering. If you find yourself in this situation, it may be time to experiment with setting boundaries that honour both your generosity and your well-being.

I’m excited to announce the launch of my new online program, the Champion Women’s Program, which aligns perfectly with Dr. Scott-Dixon’s insights. Over six weeks, you’ll learn how to:

  1. Be Your Authentic Self: Focus on being genuine rather than just nice. You don’t have to conform to anyone else's expectations!
  2. Set Boundaries: Learn that it’s okay to say no! Prioritizing your own needs will help reduce stress and boost your confidence.
  3. Choose Genuine Kindness: Cultivate kindness that comes from the heart—not simply out of obligation.
  4. Tackle Anxiety Head-On: Understand how excessive niceness can fuel anxiety and discover healthier coping strategies.

As we embark on this journey together in 2025, let’s commit to embracing our true selves while fostering authentic connections with others.

Let’s Embrace Change

Dr. Scott-Dixon encourages us to be “less nice” while keeping our kindness and compassion intact. By letting go of the pressure to manage everyone else’s feelings, we can actually lower our stress levels and feel more at ease in our own skin.

So, as we continue our journey together in 2025, let’s remember that it’s totally okay to be imperfect and authentic. Keep Championing yourself!

Hey Reader, The new year often brings resolutions—big, shiny goals that promise transformation but sometimes feel more like a set-up for failure. This year, a team member shared a different approach: choosing a single Word of the Year to help guide her efforts. No resolutions. No impossible promises. It was her way of accepting her ‘perfect imperfection’ as a part of her Champion Mindset in 2025. And let me tell you, it resonated with me. My word came to me in an instant: Acceptance. 2024...
